Halloween Safety 101

Everyone is gearing up and getting ready for Halloween, Whether it is your child's 1st or 5th time going Halloweening. My kids are always looking forward to Halloween, Besides Christmas this is their favorite holiday.

They get all excited that they get candy!

Halloween is one of my favorite holidays, I love decorating, shopping for costumes and planning out our night.

However, Accidents do happen. Here are 10 tips to ensure safety this Halloween:

1. Avoid masks and costumes that could cover the face and obstruct your child's vision while walking. You can modify the costume or purchase a mask that fits the child.

2. Carry flashlights with you. Even use reflective stickers on dark, hard to see costumes. Energizer & Rayovac sell flashlights and head gear. Which can be purchased at any mass. retailers.

3. Walk, Never run. Your child could trip or fall. There could be obstructions, that you or child cannot see in the dark.

4. Go out early , If Possible. To ensure you're not walking out in the dark.

5. If you have toddler, bring along a wagon or stroller in case they get tired or no longer want to walk.

6. Be selective of the houses you visit, visit well known houses or neighbor hoods. Only visit the houses that have their porch light lit.

7.  Adult Supervision, Personally as a mom I would never let my 8 year old out alone with his friends. A child under 13 should not be with out adult supervision.

8. Inspect all the candy when you get home. If it is not in its orginal wrapper, opened or looked like it had been opened, It should be tossed.

9. Ensure your cell phone is fully charged and all batteries are new before heading out.

This year we are going to the mall for trick or treating & a fabulous haunted "house" and as usual we will be trick or treating in our neighborhood.

I wish you all a happy, safe Halloween!

Funnel Cake Bites Recipe

U The original recipe I had the mixture was way to funny and messy too fry with, So I spent some time tweaking the recipe. I must say these Funnel Cake Bites were a HUGE hit in my house! As you see above I'm cooking 5 Funnel cakes at once. The ones in the photo aren't quite done, but very close. The funnel cakes should be golden like the photos of the cooked funnel cakes above. That's how you'll know they are done. This is a table spoon I found it much easier to pour in 1 tablespoon each into the hot oil, I was easily able to cook 4-5 mini funnel cakes at once using this method. I tried using a zip lock baggies with the mixture but it wasn't coming out corrrectly into the hot oil. This recipe makes about 15-20 Funnel Cake Bites. Perfect for parties, BBQ or a yummy snack!  What's your favorite Carnival/Fair Food??
